We’re thrilled to share the incredible generosity of GK Construction & Project Management, who donated a significant collection of building materials to Preston Vocational Centre (PVC) earlier this month.
The Adlington-based firm, which recently completed 25 affordable-rent homes for our parent company, Community Gateway Association (CGA), at the Savick regeneration project in Ashton-on-Ribble, has gone above and beyond to support our students. Their donation ensures learners have access to industry-standard materials, helping them practice their skills with confidence.
At PVC we rely on donations to maintain our vital role in training the next generation of skilled tradespeople. It’s not just financial contributions that help to secure our continued success, but donations of materials like tools, bricks, tiles, paint, pipes, and other essential items enable students to practice with resources used by professionals in the field.
GK Construction has already generously donated:
In addition, GK and their subcontractors have committed to further donations in the coming weeks, including: plastering, joinery, tiling, brickwork materials
Speaking about the donation, Samuel Cross – Project Manager at GK Construction & Project Management – told us:
“Our social value agreement with Community Gateway Association is to support PVC and we are always willing to help out. It’s so vital that we make sure we nurture young talent through the industry at a young age, so that our workforce does not diminish, and we continue to see a rich talent pool of bricklayers, joiners, plasterers, painters, and decorators. PVC plays a big role in making that happen.
“During all our projects, wastage is kept to a minimum, but if we do have any spare materials leftover, we’re always keen to donate it to local causes, colleges or centres like PVC.
“I spoke to PVC’s Centre Manager, Martin Grayston, and I was really impressed with his drive and dedication to the centre and its learners. It’s clear that the materials we’ve provided will help students gain the practice they need to succeed.
“We want to wish all the students the best of luck on their journey. Maybe one day we’ll see them starting their careers with GK Construction!”
Martin Grayston, PVC Centre Manager, said:
“We are so appreciative of this amazing donation from GK Construction. It’s incredibly meaningful when companies like GK support us in this way. Professional-grade materials are essential for our students to gain hands-on experience. Running a centre like PVC requires a constant supply of resources, so every donation makes a massive difference.
“Our partnership with GK Construction is just one of many key relationships we’ve built with companies across Lancashire. We hope to see former PVC learners joining their workforce in the future!”
